About Table Rock Lake
Table Rock Lake is a 43,100 acre Corps of Engineers lake located in southwestern Missouri and is rated one of the best fishing lakes in the country. The existing dam is the third to be built and provides flood control and power generation. With the depth of the lake and the surrounding shoreline of bluffs, rocks, and gravel, the water in Table Rock Lake is clear most of the time. Most of the trees were left standing in the lake, with the predominant tree being the cedar. Available fish include bass (largemouth and smallmouth), crappie, white bass, catfish, and bluegill.
The Table Rock Lake area offers motels, resorts, primitive and modern camping accommodations, shops, golf courses, restaurants, and historical interests. The lake area also provides numerous recreational activities which include boating, fishing, water skiing, hunting, and hiking. Other forms of entertainment and activities can be found at Silver Dollar City, The Shepherd of the Hills, and nearby Branson. In Springfield, 30 miles north, is the Bass Pro Shops.
For water sports, there are plenty of boat ramps around the lake along with numerous marinas located at Cape Fair, Aunts Creek, Highway 13, Indian Point, Baxter, Campbell Point, Long Creek, and Table Rock State Park. All of the marinas are full service, and provide fuel, storage, tackle, store, and boat rentals.
The lake has many camping areas, with resorts that have direct access to the lake. There are five major arms on the lake that are long and winding with numerous coves. The White River, James River, Indian Creek, Big Indian Creek, and Long Creek. All of these areas provide excellent fishing. Nearby Taneycomo Lake which starts right below the dam provides excellent trout fishing all year around.
